Melb Marathon 10km run

On the morning of the 10th of October, at around 7am, I participated in the Melbourne Marathon 10km run.

I was never a particularly athletic person, so I believe this is the first time I’d completed a sporting activity since I was probably in primary school. Let alone been awarded a medal.

My time was around 62 minutes, which I am really proud of. I do want to hopefully get under an hour next year.

During the morning, I disliked the wait at the start line. Though once I was running enjoyed the run a lot. Some of the highlights were sprinting down Domain Road and reaching that first drink station. Conserving energy down St. Kilda Road and seeing the LED bird’s crossing the road. Turning right from the tram tracks at Swanston Street going past the Forum where I’d seen TSIM a few days prior.

Of course, at the MCG it was nice to see mum, and a few of my work colleagues at the conclusion of the race.

In totality, I am really proud of myself for completing the race, though the bigger achievement was gaining the confidence to participate in weekly ‘Parkrun’.
